The mixing arm moves very slowly and the seat sensor will stop it from moving when you lift the toilet seat lid; this means that you won’t actually see it moving unless you look for it. Try the following steps to check if the mixing arm is moving:
- Lift the toilet seat up to activate the seat sensor (this is the magnet in the seat lid triggering the relay in the toilet top)
- Make sure you can see into the composting chamber; you’ll need to depress the toilet seat for the 25e or lift it for the 65e to move the chamber screen
- Now move the toilet seat lid away from the unit top to release the seat sensor
- You should see the mixing arm start its rotation.
If you don’t you’ll want to start troubleshooting:
- Check that your lid has a magnet
- Use a paperclip or a fridge magnet over the lid to test
- Can you hear the mixer motor?
- If you can hear the motor and there is still no rotation, check the shear pin
